Munira Abukar
Munira is studying criminal justice at Ryerson University and her passion is trying to find a balance for equality, justice and helping others. This passion for the well-being of others spills into other aspects of her life and is the driving force behind her work.
Munira is a youth committee member of the Somali Tenant Association, a member of the Tenant Engagement Reference Committee, secretary of two parent councils, a student ambassador of the Westmount Parent Council, and a member of Social Justice, the Ryerson University Faculty of Arts Student Advisory Committee, and the Canada-Bolivia sub-committee member. She is an avid participant and workshop facilitator of the Canadian Council for Refugees consultations and a Friendship food program volunteer
She has organized national conferences with the Canadian Council for Refugees, and is a former youth safety animator with Toronto Community Housing and a former president of Zonta, a woman and children awareness club. Munira is the recipient of eight academic and community scholarships.
