Christian Buhagiar

Christian is vice president, education and certification at the Institute of Corporate Directors, and executive director of the Canadian Foundation for Governance Research.

Previously he served as the director of research planning, communications and government relations at York University in Toronto, and as director of production for the UK-based firm Marcus Evans. He has also served as chief of staff to the Parliamentary Assistant for Native Affairs and to the Parliamentary Assistant for Long-Term Care at Queen’s Park, and as special assistant to the Minister of State (Environment) and the Minister of State (Employment and Immigration) on Parliament Hill.

Christian holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and pre-law, has studied in non-degree graduate programs in Belgium and Israel, and attended law school for one year.

He has served on a community advisory committee of Metrolinx/GO Transit and on the Board of Directors of a youth shelter in Scarborough, and has graduated from several director education programs. As an amateur youth baseball coach for almost 20 years, Christian developed several of his own programs and coached at the elite and provincial levels.
